About Shoshinsha-Shibari Rope

Rooted in Tradition, Crafted for Connection

🔹 Our Roots

Since 1994, our rope house has blended time-honored techniques with modern insight. Every artisan is also a rigger—each knot, each strand shaped by firsthand experience.

🔹 By riggers, for riggers

Only by experiencing both tying and being tied can one craft ropes that truly satisfy a rigger—and breathe soul into each strand.
That’s why every rope maker at Shoshinsha is also an accomplished rigger.

🔹 Never Forget the Original Intention 初心を忘れない

Since the beginning, we've grounded our craft in humility, care, and quiet dedication. 初心 isn’t just a phrase—it’s a mindset that guides every rope we finish and every connection we help create.

About Us

🔸 Tradition Meets Excellence

Our journey began in 1994, when master rope artist Haruki Yukimura opened a small rope studio dedicated to the craft of shibari. What began as a personal pursuit has since grown into a legacy—now carried forward by 11 artisan workshops, each rooted in tradition, discipline, and the quiet precision of the rope house ethos.

In 2017, SHOSHINSHA was born with a simple mission: to make premium, rigger-crafted rope accessible to practitioners around the world.

Since then, SHOSHINSHA ropes have earned the trust of beginners and masters alike—known for their consistency, finish, and craftsmanship. We have proudly shipped to practitioners worldwide, with enthusiastic reviews across global communities.

Each year, thousands of hanks of our handcrafted rope find their way into the hands of riggers around the world—trusted and favored for their quality and variety.
